Addressing complex global challenges like climate change, food security, and sustainability requires integrating knowledge across disciplines. This paper explores the role of Socioeconomics as Research Infrastructures (RIs) within the AgroServ project, a transnational research consortium, in promoting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches. By engaging diverse scientific fields and stakeholders, Socioeconomic RIs aim to bridge research with societal needs, emphasizing the importance of collaborative methodologies and co-creation. Using a mixed-methods approach, including surveys and literature review, the study highlights the engagement of different disciplines in sustainable food systems and agroecological transitions. Initial findings reveal significant potential for transdisciplinary integration, though challenges such as varying terminologies persist. The implementation of living labs demonstrates the practical application of evaluated frameworks, fostering participatory research and local solutions in regions like Douro in Portugal. This research underscores the critical role of Socioeconomics RIs in fostering integration and transdisciplinary approaches, contributing to the co-creation of knowledge and solutions to complex agroecological issues. Future efforts will continue to refine frameworks and enhance collaboration within the AgroServ consortium.
